So? Haven't heard from me lately? Want to know why? Here's a list of everything I have to have done for next week...

a. Simple character model done in Maya, finished in ZBrush.
b. 20 Thumbnails - interior layout
c. Unwrapped crate...
d. Super awesome eye in Maya + fancy render.
e.10 Sketchbook pages!
f. Character run cycle....
g. First half of a rig finished for a marine character...

PLUS! I'm taking care of my poor sick little Chicken (Tinkerbell) and dealing with the CRAPTASTIC tendonitis in my wrist! SCORE!

I've started taking Celebrex for my hand and it seems to be helping... It does upset my tummy a bit though... *grumble* I'm seeing a specialist and going in for some test on Monday which is all very exciting......... *growl*

Oh well. Sorry for the super woe-is-me post, but every so often I have to let it out somewhere.... :P

HEE HEE HEEEEEEEEEE! < This is the sound of Courtney's brain melting... It's very happy fun times over here...

So, we started animating today... I was so lost for half the class that my head almost came loose, fell off my shoulders and rolled across the classroom while the few bits of brain that I have left gushed out my nose... Then I had this massive brain explosion and all of a sudden EVERYTHING became clear! Now I'm in an I-love-animation-and-3D mood again!

That is all.

ZBrush is my new best friend. Wow. You can be so free and creative... It's nice...

We're working on a hand assignment where we have to model a base mesh in Maya and import it into ZBrush and then sculpt a nice pretty hand! Oh the awesomeness! It's so much fun! It's like painting but with 3D! Cheeeeh!

Anywho... Another brain-blasting day! We still have one more class until 9pm (Design) and I am SO EXCITED!

I have been doing a lot of surfing and organizing of favourites the last few days and have come across some kick-butt Disney/Pixar sites and blogs and stuff! Links coming soon! ^^

Cheers!

Wow. Yesterday... Eep. I have never absorbed quite so much information in a single day... That was really something... I spent most of the morning trying to avoid massive panic attacks when I couldn't keep up and the computer wouldn't do what I told it to... I was seeing double by the end of the day and thought my brain might never recover...

All in all...

It was the most AWESOME DAY EVER!!! Let's do it again!!!!!!!!!!! Hee hee hee! I had so much fun! Animating in 3D is going to be awesome! This is so exciting!! YES!

What's really crazy... is that I'm totally serious! ^^ I'm turning over to the "dark" side!

OH! I forgot! I was watching the Pixar Story on the wall-e bluray and there's one clip of the Pixar crew after they've complete Toy Story in their old studio and OMIGOSH there's totally a parrotlet* sitting on the rim of this dude's cowboy hat! It's so funny!

*My bird Tinkerbell is a parrotlet for those of you who don't know... Which is why I thought it was so cool! ^^

So, my lunch hour is almost over and I have a few more blogs I want to check out before I get back to work!

Toodles!

I am sitting in front of a 21" Cintiq with my gigantic second monitor at my SUPER fast, pretty and shiny new computer in the Digital lab at my really awesome spot by the window and I AM SO EXCITED THAT I CAN BARELY SIT UP STRAIGHT IN MY CHAIR AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS STILL 5 HOURS BEFORE CLASS STARTS!!!!

Ok... so I'm a little excited... EEP.

It was definitely worth waking up at 6:30am to get here bright and early to get this spot! In my second year of Commercial Animation, I didn't have a window seat and it drove me a little nuts... In first year it wasn't so bad because the windows were larger and so was the classroom. However the second year room is much smaller as is the digi lab and windows are hard to come by... So I'm fairly please with myself.

GAH!

So... school will be starting up again for me on Tuesday the 8th which is very exciting! I'm looking forward to getting back into the "groove."

I got Fritzi's remains back yesterday and Mum, Eric and I had a little gathering for him. I made a DVD for of him for us to watch and after that we had pizza and ice-cream. I feel better now that I have him back with me... but it feels really finite... like the end of all things. I miss the little guy.

Here's Tinkerbell in her latest video Bath Time!

A really horrible thing happened yesterday... My Grandmother, without telling anyone, took our 15 year old dog Fritzi to the vet at 1pm and had him put down. She called that evening to tell me what she'd done. I can't believe I didn't get to say goodbye to my first furry friend...  He wasn't dying, he was just old. Why couldn't she have waited until my Mother and I could have been there to say goodbye to the little guy? Why!?

I still can't believe that she actually did it... I'm so angry. I know Oma doesn't understand that what she did was very wrong, and I know that no matter how angry I get with her, it's not going to bring my Littlest Prince back, but it still hurts...

I know it was something that was going to happen soon... but why couldn't she have told us so we could have at least said our goodbyes... If I'd have known on Monday that I was never going to see my little man again, I would have given him a little more of my time and attention... a few more hugs and kisses... I'm really feeling quite horrible right now...

Goodbye Fritzi. You were are really good boy and I hope you're happier wherever you are now. I love you.

A friend of mine, [info]phonixa, did a painting of Snow White using a method involving taking a disney princess colouring book page and colouring it in the style of an old fashioned painting. So after checking out some of the ones that she had looked at/been inspired by and I thought it might be fun to do one of my own.

I picked Ariel and I used a painting by Boucher, François.

This was really fun to do since I wasn't thinking about the drawing and therefore I could totally focus on the painting.

If you would like to see the "in progress" piece that I did which includes the painting I used for my colour reference, the colouring book page I picked, the rough colour and the finished colour, check out my deviantART page here.

Enjoy!

A friend of mine did a really awesome painting of Snow White and I felt totally inspire to follow! Apparantly there are a bunch of people doing this, where you take a colouring book page, in this case of a Disney princess, and colour it in the style of an old master. Way cool. I chose Ariel, since she was one of the few who hadn't been picked.

It's obviously far from finished, but I thought it might be fun to show and "in progress" type pic, since I don't often do that... Yup.

Just a note... I didn't do the drawing for this, I have only done the painting! I will post the colouring book page that I used, along with image I used as my pallet once I've finished! ^_^

Cheers!

Wow. Last night was insane! We had so much lightning and thunder and rain it was crazy! So of course Eric and I went out gallivanting in the rains of awesomeness which was really fun. We both got super soaked, but it was still awesome.

I'm off work now for the next three weeks because of my wrists and hands... This sucks. Oh well, hopefully it all gets better before school starts. I'm going back to the doctor on Tuesday and on Monday I have to make an appointment with a specialist which should be good. Both my supervisors were surprisingly understanding and kind to me which made me feel better. Sometimes you really have to get to know people before you start passing all kinds of judgment. This is true.

I would also like to point out the Tinkerbell is eating the Daisy Duck on my pajama... Poor Daisy. Silly Tink.

So, here's a video of Ms Bell. Isn't she a sweetie? She's totally a mini velociraptor in disguise... She's so funny! I wish the footage of her hip-hopping across my bed had turned out... I'll have to try again...

I drew this by accindent and I was actually thinking of posting the underlying sketch but then I realized that I'd already merged the layers and had saved over the last file it was on... WAH. Oh well, you can still kinda see it in there anyways.

This is Oric, yet another character from the story I've been working on... He's a goblin/vampire hybrid thing and I likes him.

I have to go do some chores now... It's all very exciting...

Yup so, I finished this off first thing this morning before work! It's another character from Tamen (that story I mentioned that I've been working on since the dawn of time...). Her name is Nadia (the fifth or sixth version of her) and I think I'm getting closer to something that resembles who I see in my head.

Yay for photoshop and my yummy moleskine!

Also... Tinkerbell, who is sitting on my laptop screen, sends her love and wished to inform you all that she can now perform three tricks! Touch, Turn Around and Come! My little genius! I hope to post a video of her soon!

Well... I'm feeling a little better. Not so sick anymore. ^_^

This is Meera. She's a character from a story that I've been working on since grade 9... I've actually started working on it again and have been thinking about designing some of the other characters as well. YAY!

Wow. Thumbs up for dissapointment. I've finally finished all the Harry Potter books. Yes, it has taken me a really long time, I am aware. Did anyone else think that the last book was a dissapointing waste of time? I've never wanted so badly to call an author up and ask them, in all honesty, what the heck were they thinking? I'm still shaking my head. Oh well.

So what do I do when I get totally bummed by the books I'm reading? LiVEJOURNAL!!! Of course! I have to come check out what everyone has been posting in the journals! Of course it makes me feel better and I come across this: Sir Ken Robinson: Do schools kill creativity?

Watch this and be stunned! This guy is really quite brilliant. Enjoy!

Here's Tink! We (my boyfriend and I) brought her home last night and we went out today and picked her up a load of toys! I just took this picture a few minutes ago... She's on her  play-gym in the office. She likes the rope part the best! Hee hee! She's twittering a preening! So cute! I'm super excited! ^_^ Tink's adjusting really well and so far, Rhino (my hamster) isn't too jealous ^_*.
Mum gave me the idea for the name and yes, she does act just like Tinkerbell. Heh heh, just big enough for one emotion at a time!

Such a sweet little girl! ^_^

I’ll start off by saying that I really and truly loved the first Transformers movie. I personally would like to erase Revenge of the Fallen from my mind forever and pretend that they simply decided not to make a sequel.

Disappointment doesn’t really cover the whole spectrum of unpleasant emotions I felt while watching the film. There were small glimpses of sunlight amidst the overall gloom in terms of the lack of plot, character development and the general childish humor.

As for the twins, they were most unattractive and unappealing and dealt out most of the unnecessary childish jokes and rather pointless partial swear words. Ugh.

As far as the camera work is concerned… Please? Is it asking too much to lock down the camera for five seconds at least? I challenge you to find me a scene in which the camera truly IS NOT moving. It’s forever zooming in or out or making huge swooping, roundabout shots that really aren’t necessary when three people are having a plain conversation. There were a few times when I felt the need to close my eyes because it felt like I was in an IMAX theatre where the camera is constantly doing something and it is making me want to loose my lunch.

In other words… I did not enjoy this movie. Go see it if you don’t believe me, but don’t say I didn’t warn you…

I is sad.

In other news…

I’m getting a birdie! A Pacific Parrotlet! WOOT! I’m going first thing tomorrow morning to take a look at the ones available. The lady who I have been corresponding with has a few handfed green babies available now and blue ones in three weeks. I have been saving up and have gotten the OK from my manager (thanks to my sweetheart for helping me out) and am all set to go! Wish me luck! ^_^

Yup... so I bought myself a cintiq... I have crossed over to the dark side... LOL. I'm fairly excited about my new toy, but I haven't really had a chance to play around with it much. HOWEVER! I finally had a spare moment to mess around with it and here's what I did...

Yay for parrotlets! Hee hee! Birdie birdie birdie.
